MarsSI do comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which went into effect Friday, May 25, 2018. This European regulation grants rights to individuals related to the treatment of their personal data and involves changes in the manner with which we collect, save, and share your data.
The user database
MarsSI do store your first and last name, email address as well as your affiliation and project description. MarsSI also have a hash of your password, but we did not store your password itself. We do require this as we provide this free service to academic communities and must be able to verify your credentials. Your email address allows us to infrequently communicate with you in order to give you important notices about the service.
We do not share this data with any other third party. We do generate anonymous statistics from this database, such as "number of registered users", "number of institutions using the service" that we may share with either the french higher education & research ministry or the public so we can report the service usage.
The batch processing database
MarsSI keeps a database of requested datasets and dataset processing which user requested. This data allows us to analyze MarsSI quality of service and identify and fix issues.
We do not share this data with any other third party. We do generate anonymous statistics from this database, such as "number of jobs ran each month" or "number of active users this month" that we may share with either the french higher education & research ministry or the public so we can report the service usage.
Web interfaces information
To work, our web interfaces (MarsSI itself, the wiki) need to rely on some information specific to your session (the moment you login until the moment you logout). We only keep information regarding your session state. This information can be stored on your computer using technologies like "cookies" or local storage. We do NOT use performance/tracking cookies. We do NOT collect information outside of the scope of MarsSI, we do NOT share any information with third parties.
MarsSI do NOT rely on any external service provider (such as Content Delivery Networks or other) to prevent any personal activity leakage.
